Mumbai: 19-year-old held for molesting minor

A 19-year-old Dahisar resident, who allegedly molested a minor girl on two separate occasions over the past four days, was arrested on Tuesday.

A 19-year-old Dahisar resident, who allegedly molested a minor girl on two separate occasions over the past four days, was arrested on Tuesday.

According to the police, the accused, Mohammad Atif, first molested the girl near her residence in Dahisar on Sunday, but she ignored it. When the accused repeated the act on Tuesday, she raised an alarm. “Few passers-by caught Atif and handed him over to the police. The girl is a college student and she does not know the accused,” said Prakash Jadhav, senior inspector at Dahisar police station.

The police have registered a case against Atif under IPC section 354 (criminal force to woman with an intent to outrage her modesty), along with other sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
