According to the police, the incident occurred at Rahul Bagade’s house around 3am. Breaking the window grille open, the accused stole gold ornaments worth Rs2 lakh from the cupboard in the bedroom.

“Bagade and his family were sleeping in the living room. The thieves locked the door of the bedroom from inside. Some of them also stood guard outside the house,” said Pradeep Gosavi, senior police inspector of Andheri police station. “The accused also locked the doors of Bagade’s neighbours so that no one could catch them even if the family tried to raise an alarm,” said Shailesh Metar, secretary of the society.
