The key accused in the Malwani hooch tragedy, Mansoor Latif Khan alias Ateeq, who was arrested from Delhi on Tuesday, has been remanded in police custody till July 3. The police have also managed to zero in on a Gujarat-based transporter named Irfan. His role is being investigated, sources said.

The police said they will get the next link from the transporter, which will reveal the supply chain clearly and help lead them to the manufacturer of the spurious liquor.
Two teams continue to be in Gujarat and they are investigating the channels through which the methanol had been procured. Four people are being interrogated by the Mumbai crime branch, sources said.
Khan used to allegedly procure methanol from a Gujarat-based businessman and then bring it to Mumbai in tempos with the help of Irfan, investigations revealed.
Khan was arrested from Delhi on Tuesday and was produced before the Esplanade court on Wednesday. “We need to check if he still has the stock, if he was involved in making the liquor and chemical or he was just supplying it,” the crime branch officials said.
The police also suspect around 60 litres of the diluted methanol was sold to local residents. The concoction led to the death of 102 people.
