Mumbai: Mahesh Bhatt records statement in Pujari case
Film producer-director Mahesh Bhatt last week recorded his statement in connection with the attack bid on him by gangster Ravi Pujari’s aides in 2014, which was foiled by the police.
The two-page statement was recorded in courtroom number 28 of the Esplanade Court in the presence of a magistrate, said sources. Bhatt allegedly narrated the sequence of events and how Pujari is still a threat to him for more than 45 minutes. The statement, which was given in English, was later translated into Marathi and read out to him.
According to police sources, the statement will make the case strong, leaving no ambiguity. The statement will be part of the charge sheet and will pave the way for the extradition of the remaining accused in the case.
On November 15, 2014, seven people with two firearms were arrested from outside Bhatt’s office at Madhu Park, Khar. Subsequently, six more people were arrested. The investigation had revealed that Pujari wanted to create a sensation by targeting a famous personality.
