Mumbai: Man assaulted, poured acid in eyes

In a shocking incident, three builders allegedly threw acid in the eyes of a 50-year-old real estate agent and later abandoned him at Mira Road on Monday night.

A case has been registered against eight person by Kashimira police but no arrest has been made so far.

According to the police, the victim, Doodnath Verma, a resident of the Gokuldham area in Goregaon (east) received a call from a buyer who asked him to meet at Aarey Road the same evening. When Verma reached Aarey Road five men forced him in an Innova car, took him to a room and beat him up for several hours. They poured acid into his eyes and on his hands and abandoned him at Mira Road.

A patrolling police van noticed Verma on Tuesday morning, following which he was admitted to Bhagwati hospital, where he is currently under treatment.

“Verma has alleged that three builders were behind the incident and based on his statement, we have registered a case against eight persons, including the builders. Investigation is in progress,” said Anil Patil, senior inspector of Kashimira police station.
