The autopsy report states ‘severe head injury’ as cause of death. Khan allegedly suffered the injury during the inquiry at Chembur police station.

The police claimed Khan was picked up as he had several offences registered against him.

“A person with a criminal background was questioned at the police station. He got injured and was taken to Sion hospital where he was declared dead. Two constables have been suspended,” said Mahesh Ghurye, deputy commissioner of police, zone VI.
