DCP (zone 8) Namdeo Chavan has confirmed the permission given.

Another officer added the organisers have been given a list of dos and don’ts that they have to keep in mind during the planning and execution of the event.

“We have asked the organisers to ensure that they take proper security measures such as barricading the route during the Vodafone event,” the officer added.

The event has been shifted from Marine Drive to Bandra-Kurla Complex when residents of the south Mumbai venue raised objections.

Organisers have claimed that they are expecting a crowd of around 40,000 people to gather at the venue.
