The woman was on duty around 7pm and was checking tickets as part of a drive by the Central Railways.

Government railway police (GRP) officials said some people saw the TT penalising a passenger who had travelled without a ticket. They asked her to let the passenger go. Within minutes, a mob had gathered and two people slapped the TT. They also broke the glass pane at the reservation counter.

The Sion police have arrested all five accused in the case. “On Thursday night, we arrested three men involved in the incident. Two women were arrested on Friday morning,” said a police official from Sion police.

The accused were identified as Kamla Maru, Shantaram Maru, Santosh Panigrahi, Amanullah Shaikh and Sagar Maru.

“The Sion police will record the statements of the woman TT and register a case. When the on-duty railway police personnel brought the mob under control, some of them claimed the woman TT was hurling abuses,” said Pramod Dhavre, senior inspector, Wadala GRP.

The accused have been booked under 14 sections of the Indian Penal Code, including outraging the modesty of a woman.
