Not opposed to Sena memorial: NCP

The National Congress Party (NCP), directing a jibe at the Shiv Sena, said that it was not opposed to the creation of a memorial of the late Bal Thackeray at Mahalaxmi race course if it was done legally but that the party needed to show that its intentions for setting up the theme park are honest.

“If Shiv Sena wants to open Mahalaxmi race course to the public through a theme park and memorial, then it should show that its intentions are honest by throwing open private clubs like Matoshree belonging to Sena leaders,” said Nawab Malik, NCP spokesperson.

“The land belonging to civic body was given to Shiv Sena leaders at a cheap rate and they have used it to construct health clubs for the rich,” it alleged.
