For the last two days, the Shantinagar area in Mira Road has been mourning the death of two of the six friends who lived there. The other four have sustained injuries in the serial bomb blast in the city on Wednesday evening.
The friends would meet every evening after work near Khau Galli at Opera house and take the same train back home from Charni Road station.
Himmat Kalubhai Gadia, 48 and Bhupatbhai Mukund Patel, 48, died on the spot, while Vallabhai Gadia,40, Haresh Lakhani, Khodabhai Dongrani, 35, Bhavesh Bhimji, 28 are injured and are admitted in Saifee hospital.
The injured have sustained leg and hand injuries but are recovering. Gadia who is survived by his wife and two sons was a diamond broker was waiting for his friends and colleagues of the diamond market outside Prasad Chambers a short distance from where the blast took place. Gadia along with a group of 15 friends boarded the Virar train from Charni Road station every evening and then would walk home.
“When we heard about the blasts we started to make frantic calls to reach Himmat and his other friends but we couldn’t reach either of their phones. We only got to know that he was injured in the incident and we rushed to the hospital only to be told that he had died,” said a relative of Gadia.
