The police said the accused, Afzal Ansari, and the victim, Veeru Jat, hailed from the same village in Uttar Pradesh and lived in Hadmond D’Souza Compound at Sakinaka.

On Friday, Ansari allegedly made an STD call to his hometown from Jat’s cellphone without asking him. When Jat found out, he confronted Ansari and the duo had an argument, Jat’s relatives told the police that.

Later, in the evening, Ansari barged into Jat’s house and allegedly stabbed him with a knife and fled. Jat’s family rushed to a nearby hospital, but the doctors declared him declared dead before admission. The police have formed two teams to trace the accused.

“We are questioning Ansari's relatives and friends to trace his whereabouts,” said Senior Police Inspector S Dhanedar of the Sakinaka police station. The police suspect he must have fled to his hometown.
