The Mumbai divisional education board has received 909 applications for photocopy of answer sheets from 458 Class 10 students through the Right to Information (RTI) Act. For Class 12, 2,303 students have applied for 5,547 photocopies.
While students can get a copy of their answer sheets, they cannot apply for re-evaluation as the board allows only one of the two options. The re-evaluation results will be declared after the admission process is over. The last day to apply is July 2, by which time the first merit list will be out.
A few students have dropped the idea of applying for a re-evaluation or seeking a photocopy of their answer sheets.
Devika Madnani, a student of Podar International School (SSC) in Santacruz was not happy with her Marathi marks. Madnani scored 80 marks in Marathi in her school exams, whereas she scored 68 marks in the board exam. “I was expecting about 93% and was not satisfied with my performance. Though I had planned to apply for re-evaluation, I have dropped the idea as the first merit list will be out before I even apply,” she said.
Till date, the board has dispatched 40 photocopies of the answer sheets for Class 12 students. “Students who had applied for photocopies of their answer sheets were satisfied with the assessment and they did not spot any error in the marking scheme,” said RR Bhise, Mumbai divisional secretary.
"The procedure to get a photocopy of the answer sheet and re-evaluation is tedious. Our main aim was to complete the online procedure for junior college admissions in 25 days. The first merit list is being declared early this year. If we wait for all the students to complete their re-evaluation procedure, classes will not start on time," said Sarjerao Jadhav, chairman, state education board.
