Pansare, who was shot at on February 16 in Kolhapur along with wife, died on Friday night in Mumbai.

The CM was in the city to inaugurate the new building of police commissionerate on Saturday.

Over 50 CPI protesters raised slogans 'CM go back' and 'arrest killers of comrade Pansare' before arrival of Fadnavis at the commissionerate, an officer at police control room said.

Police, in a bid to control the protesters, took them into preventive custody, he said, adding that they were later released.

Later, Fadnanis did the inauguration along with police commissioner KK Sarangal and other officials.

During the tour, Fadnavis also attended a meeting at Trimbakeshwar, around 29 kms from here, to take stock of ongoing preparations for upcoming 'Simhastha Kumbh' to be held in Nashik this year.
