The state party unit issued a statement pointing out the Prime Minister’s statement as a testimony that its President, Union Agriculture Minister, Sharad Pawar, was being unnecessarily targeted on the issue.

NCP spokesperson, Mahesh Tapase, said that the PM’s statement has clarified that decisions taken by Union Agriculture Minister, Sharad Pawar have been accurate.

“It is unfortunate that opponents have been targeting Pawar by resorting to irresponsible statements and foolhardy claims. The fact is that he has transformed agriculture in the country,’’ said State Party President, Madhukar Pichad.

He said that the Opposition, including the Bharatiya Janata Party, was levelling ridiculous allegations with a bid to gain publicity.
