Madhne and his accomplice, Arshad Ali, have been remanded in police custody till October 13 by a metropolitan magistrate's court at Borivli. The duo allegedly raped a 21-year-old woman at Manori on October 3.

The police now plan to turn the duo’s friend, Kritika, into a witness since she was present at the crime scene.

Also, they will take a supplementary statement of the victim, who works as a telephone operator with a Bandra-based company. “We are waiting for the victim’s medical report. It is expected this week,” said M Bakhre, senior inspector, Gorai police station.

Madhne and Ali were arrested on Friday after the victim, who resides in Khar, approached the Goregaon police and alleged that she was raped in a cottage in Manori Village.

The victim got acquainted with Kritika at a hookah parlour in Goregaon on the night of October 2. She accompanied Kritika and her two friends to Manori Village, where she was allegedly raped.

The two women then went to Kritika’s house in Mira Road, after which, the victim returned to her home. After receiving repeated calls from Ali, she lodged a complaint with the Goregaon police, which was later transferred to the Gorai police.
