According to sources in the Mumbai police, the calls to the police main control room began coming in at around 10pm on Saturday and continued till 2.30pm on Sunday.

At around 4.30 pm on Sunday, the pranksters, identified as Sobeshwar Mrityunjay Mochi alias Kalu, 15, from West Bengal; and Niranjankumar Hariprasad Singh, 34, from Bihar, were nabbed by the Panvel police from the construction site.

A mobile phone, belonging to Mochi, which was used to make the calls was also seized, Prakash Patil, police sub-inspector of Panvel said. Patil added the duo got drunk on Saturday night and started playing mischief by dialing the emergency number ‘100’.

The calls made the cops sit up and take note due to the terror alert in city during the festive season. The police are on high alert till the New Year.

Following the calls, stations and other public locations were scanned before the cops realised that it was a prank. Following which the cops traced the mobile phone used for making the calls and arrested the duo on Sunday.
