Raj told journalists on Thursday that Nihar was not linked to the case. “After Bindumadhav’s [Nihar’s father and Bal Thackeray’s eldest son] death, the restaurant business was given on rent. Nihar was not running the place,” Raj said.

Raj said that his nephew is currently living at the Thackeray residence, Matoshree, in Bandra (East) and is studying law. “He is a kid and is completely innocent,” he said. Raj was with the Sena until he quit in 2005. Despite his fallout with Uddhav, Raj has been vocal about his respect for his uncle and the family.
