“We filed a written complaint with the Bandra police for cheating, house trespass using criminal force and forgery, but they did not take any action,” said advocate Manohar Shetty, who represents Advani. “So, we have moved a private complaint before the court and asked it to direct the police to file an FIR against his family members.”

This is Advani’s second complaint after Khanna’s death. In November 2012, Advani had filed a complaint under the Domestic Violence Act in the same court, in which she had claimed maintenance and alleged that Khanna’s family members — wife Dimple Kapadia, daughters Twinkle and Rinke and son-in-law Akshay Kumar had been harassing her. However, the proceedings were stayed after they moved the Bombay high court.

The magistrate court has now adjourned the case for further hearing in February.
