Relief for 756 nursing homes

The state government on Wednesday announced that 756 nursing homes have time till April 30 to renew their licences in view of the civic body asking them to change the status of their premises from residential to commercial.

The state government on Wednesday announced that 756 nursing homes have time till April 30 to renew their licences in view of the civic body asking them to change the status of their premises from residential to commercial.

State minister for urban development, Bhaskar Jadhav, made the announcement in the Legislative Council.

As per a recent court order, nursing homes need to have separate entrances and staircases to operate in residential premises. “We have decided to ease these rules,” said Jadhav. There are 1,472 nursing homes in the city of which 716 have renewed their licences.
