When a group of journalists met him on Tuesday, he said he had decided to keep mum on the matter.

Sources said Patil was miffed with the media for demanding his resignation and asking for a CBI inquiry when a press delegation met chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on Monday.

He felt the media had cast doubt on his abilities and had caused the focus to shift to Chavan, who is now seen as the person in charge of the investigation, with the police teams directly reporting to him.
