RTOs intensify drive against autos, taxis

On the first day of its drive to penalise taxis without recalibrated e-meters, the Tardeo RTO fined 26 taxi drivers on Sunday.

On the first day of its drive to penalise taxis without recalibrated e-meters, the Tardeo RTO fined 26 taxi drivers on Sunday.

Andheri and Wadala RTOs, too, penalised seven auto drivers for not adhering to the December 15 deadline for recalibrations.

The drivers were either levied a fine of Rs 700 or have their licences suspended for seven days. “From Monday, we will have more squads to keep a check on taxis,” said MB Jadhav, Tardeo RTO.

RTO officers have also appealed to commuters to inform them about autos and taxis plying without recalibrated meters.
