Runaway rape teenager brought back to Mankhurd home

A 15 year old kidnap and rape victim who allegedly ran away from the Mankhurd children’s home on Saturday was traced to her grandmother’s place on Monday. The police handed her over to the remand home. HT reports

“While searching for the girl, we learnt that the she has gone to her maternal grandmother’s home in Sion,” said Police Sub Inspector Narayan Ugle of the Malwani police station.

“Therefore, one of our teams went there along with her mother and found her there,” Ugle added.

According to the police, the girl jumped off the wall of the children’s home while she being taken to JJ Hospital for medical tests.

A missing complaint had been lodged at the Trombay police station regarding her escape. The girl, a resident of Malwani, had been staying at the Mankhurd home for the past three days after the police rescued her and arrested her kidnapper Imran Khan (23), a zari worker.

The officials said Khan took the girl to several places during one week and raped her several times at different lodges in the city and outside. The girl was rescued on July 29 from a lodge in Gorai.
