NCP corporator Heera Patil was arrested in the Mumbra building crash for allegedly taking bribe and now the illegal construction by Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik is making news.

The two buildings from Section B, B1 and B2 of Chhabhaiya’s Vihang Gardens Complex in Thane constructed by Sarnaik have four illegal floors each against which the high court has asked the Thane Municipal Corporation to take suitable action.

Playing the vote bank politics, NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad on Saturday expressed concern over the future of Chhabhaiy’s residents.

“We had complained about the illegal floors two years ago. Had the corporation and the chief minister taken timely action, the residents would have being saved the uncertainty of legal action ... residents should not suffer because of illegal construction of a politician,” Awhad said.

Sarnaik defended himself saying the construction was legal.
