‘Sena, MNS won’t be de-recognised’

The Supreme Court on Monday said it would not entertain a PIL seeking de-recognition of Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and prosecution of its leaders for their alleged hate campaign against north Indians.

The Supreme Court on Monday said it would not entertain a PIL seeking de-recognition of Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and prosecution of its leaders for their alleged hate campaign against north Indians.

The petition cited instances of the two parties targetting non-Marathis during railway recruitment exams in 2008, assault of SP MLA Abu Azmi in state Assembly and other incidents.

The PIL also sought a direction to the Election Commission to de-recognise the parties’ election symbols, as provided under the Election Symbols Reserve Order, 1968.
