Sood was produced before the court on Friday after her arrest in connection with the Arun Tikku murder case. The police, while seeking her remand, alleged that she was misleading the investigation by revealing several names and given confusing information, all of which now need to be verified.

The prosecution told the court that Sood had introduced Palande to TV actor Anuj, son of senior citizen Arun Tikku and that she was very close to all the accused, so her role in the murder needs to be ascertained.

Sood’s advocate objected to the remand application, stating that the model had not played any role in the murder and that she knew nothing.

The advocate argued that she had been arrested on April 12 in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Delhi-based aspiring film producer Karan Kumar Kakkad and that since the police had already obtained maximum custody of her in that case, they cannot claim her custody in another case.

However, the prosecution pointed out that they are two different cases being investigated by two different teams and alleged that Sood was not cooperating.

The court accepted the crime branch’s plea and granted police custody till May 4.

The crime branch believes that Sood introduced Palande to Anuj as her brother, after which Palande got close to Anuj and conspired to grab his 1,500 sq ft flat. Palande had asked Anuj to rent out a portion of the flat to his German wife Nibis Ligenza, and Sood had signed as witness in the agreement. Soon, Palande’s two accomplices, Dhananjay Shinde and Manoj Gajkosh, moved into the house. However, Anuj’s father got a whiff of what was going on and flew down to Mumbai from Delhi.

After Tikku threw Shinde and Gajkosh out of the flat, Palande realised that his plan was failing and decided to kill the businessman.

On the fateful day, Palande took Anuj to Goa, and Shinde and Gajkosh murdered Tikku.
