Special exhibition train on sports, IT to city in September

With the Commonwealth Games 2010 in anvil, the Railways have decided to run a special ‘Exhibition Train’ on sports and information technology.

With the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2010 in anvil, the Railways have decided to run a special ‘Exhibition Train’ on sports and information technology (IT).

For the first time in the history of railways, a train would be dedicated for such a purpose. This train would start from Delhi and reach Mumbai by September 11-13.

Of the 11 coaches, five would showcase the details of the sports being played at the Commonwealth Games and its history, while the remaining six coaches would display the achievements in the IT sector.

Each coach would have a separate theme.

Coach 1 would show the history of the Games, including details on the first CWG held in 1930 at Hamilton, Ontario in Canada.

The second and third coaches would describe the events that would be part of the CWG 2010.

They would present the history of each game being played and its respective venues. They would also house dummy models of stadiums where the games would be played.

The fourth coach would be dedicated to those sportspersons who have excelled in various games and sports.

“There would be interactive sessions between the sportspersons and public inside the train,” said S. Mudgerikar, Central Railway chief PRO.

The remaining six coaches would showcase the history of IT and its growing importance.
