Three suburban services were cancelled and over 50 were delayed owing to a problem that occurred between Jogeshwari and Andheri stations on the Churchgate-bound slow track around 12.58pm, and trains were stalled between the two stations.

“Around 1.30pm, there were a few trains standing one after another and passengers were walking through the tracks,” said Vipul Shah, a resident of Borivali. Passengers also said that suburban services on WR were running at least 20-30 minutes late.

A WR spokesperson said there was a technical problem with the overhead wire which was rectified during a power block However, according to sources equipment called the Jumper was damaged, and to avoid further damage to the overhead wire or pantographs, services were stopped.

WR diverted slow line services onto the fast track after the incident, but this resulted in disruption of services on the fast line as well, sources said.

“Services resumed around 1.50pm after power block,” said Nitin David, PR officer, WR.
