TISS panel to probe molestation incident on Mumbai campus
The Trombay police registered an FIR after the student complained that she was molested by another student from the institute
Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has set up a three-member committee to probe an alleged sexual assault on a student in the campus on January 29.

“The institute has formed a committee to look into the matter and other related incidents. We will submit a report within the stipulated 90-day period,” said Nasreen Rustomfram, convener of TISS’s committee against sexual assault.
According to sources, the incident occurred after an event on the campus. “The students broke into an argument following a derogatory remark made during the programme. This soon led to a physical altercation between two groups of students. The student, who was also present at the scene, started claiming that she was molested,” said a source.
The Trombay police registered an FIR after the student complained that she was molested by another student from the institute. “It’s unclear whether it was a sexual assault or a physical attack. I have full faith in the TISS authorities. We need to wait for the panel to submit the report of their investigation,” said Deepak Nanda, president, TISS student council.
