ACB officials said a trap was laid after a contractor on BMC’s list for waste disposal lodged a complaint that Khan and Sheikh were demanding 3% of the total bill amount put forth by the contractor’s company. Out of the sanctioned Rs 160 crore, the duo passed a bill of Rs16 lakh in October but withheld a payment of Rs27.33 lakh.

ACB officials said investigations are on to ascertain if the duo has made money using similar means in the past.
