“They were suspended after a departmental inquiry” said senior police inspector Madhukar Chaudhari on Saturday. Chaudhari refused to reveal their names.

On June 13, Lokegaonkar, along with his 40 supporters, went to a transit camp in Santacruz and said he wanted to inspect the work as some of his acquaintances were to be shifted there.

When Lokegaonkar started taking photographs, site supervisor Yogendra Gavde objected.

This led to an altercation. Lokegaonkar allegedly whipped out a pistol and threatened Gawde.

His bodyguard then allegedly stabbed Gawde with a chopper in his chest.

Two of Lokegaonkar’s accomplices were arrested, but he is still untraceable.
