A brawl broke out between a family and a group of drunk men on Juhu Tara road during New Year celebrations, near JW Marriott. Two years ago, Hindustan Times had broken a story of molestation during New Year celebrations on the same spot.

This time however, police reached the spot on time and arrested the miscreants.
Police said that Ranjit Prasad Yadav (50), a rickshaw driver from Nehru Nagar was celebrating New Year along with his wife and family at Juhu beach. Yadav and his wife were walking on Juhu Tara road near JW Marriott when a group of drunk men passed them.
“One of the men shoved Yadav, who nearly fell. Furious, Yadav turned around and confronted the man identified as Pankaj Jalsaniya, who abused Yadav. Both then had an heated argument,” said KMM Prasanna, deputy commissioner of police (zone IX).
“Jalsaniya’s companion Vishal Bhagwan Saliya dragged Yadav to a corner and slapped him thrice. Yadav then raised an alarm,” added Prasanna.
Policemen patrolling the area intervened and took Jalsaniya and Saliya into custody.
Jalsaniya and Saliya, daily wage labourers from Malad were released on bail.
