According to the police, the woman, said to be between 28 and 30 years of age, was found stuffed in a 28x18x11 rexine bag near platform 8-9 minutes after a Pune-Mumbai Sinhagad Express pulled into the station.

Avinash Singh, a food stall worker, spotted the bag lying outside the general coach of the train around 10.15am and informed the GRP. The police rushed to the spot and examined the suitcase, only to find a corpse in it.

According to the police, the victim’s head and legs had been folded and bent till the abdomen to pack her inside the bag. The accused had also stuffed gunny bags at the sides to ensure that the body did not move while being transported.

The woman was wearing a salwar kameez and was killed a few hours before her body was discovered, the police said.
