Motormen have threatened an “irreversible” strike on June 15. They were convinced to take back their protest in May after the government intervened.

Their demands are making bureaucratic rounds with the ministry of railways sending a note on Friday saying they had forwarded the issue to the ministry of finance for approval.

The ministry of railways’ note said meetings were held with the employee federations and it has “addressed major issues to eliminate anomalies in the pay structure”.

Sources said with two working days available before the June 15 deadline, the matter would remain unresolved.
