Tired of driving through the daily traffic jams. Here is a new concept that could help car commuters save on money and fuel — bus-pooling.

Scheduled to start from October 8, the initiative, named ‘Bus Karo’, will have air-conditioned Volvo bus running from Borivli (East) to Santacruz (East). The journey will cost around Rs 50 per day. Initially, there will be limited seats, which will be extended after seeing the pros and cons of the concept.
Akshay Gaonkar, who along with his friends came up wit concept of bus-pooling, said: “We will first start bus-pooling with a group of 20 people. We have already received several emails from individuals and corporates showing interest in this concept.”
Gaonkar said the aim of the initiative was to allow people to reduce the stress caused while driving through traffic jams or waiting for public transport.
The bus would also be wi-fi enabled. The bus has been leased out by Konduskar Travels Pvt Ltd at Rs 1 lakh per month. “We had a meeting on Thursday and several people showed interest in the idea. We will now look at the glitches and try to fix it before starting,” said Gaonkar.
