Seats to the commerce and science bifocal streams, that remain vacant in colleges even after the admissions based on the second merit list, will be thrown open for admission on an offline basis once the online admissions are completed.

However, admissions to these will only be conducted by the colleges on an internal basis and only if the student’s marks are above the cut-off percentage for that stream.

“Colleges will not accept new applications, but will conduct the admissions internally for those who have been admitted to the college but may now want to change their course,” said SR Chouhan, deputy director of education, Mumbai region.

The online admission process officially ends on August 10, the last date for fee payment after the third general merit list is declared.

On Monday, there was some confusion as a few streams in some colleges reported cut-offs for the second merit list higher than the first list. However, data from the department showed that colleges had mixed up the open and the reserved category cut-offs.
