Waiter of Matunga hotel attacks boss

The Bhoiwada police on Tuesday arrested a waiter who allegedly stabbed his manager after he refused to allow him to go his native place for a treatment. The manager was rushed to the hospital and survived the attack.

According to the police, the accused, Chinna Keshav, 29, who hails from Kerala was employed as a waiter at the Rangoli hotel in Matunga. The victim, Rohit Gala,41, is a manager there.

According to the Bhoiwada police, the incident took place on Monday evening, when Keshav asked Gala for permission to go to Kerala to get treatment for a spinal cord ailment he was suffering from. According to inspector S Kale of Bhoiwada police, Gala did not give Keshav permission to leave the city, and told him to find a doctor in Mumbai.

Keshav allegedly left the hotel in a fit of rage and headed to a bar, where he had a few drinks. Following this, Keshav went to Gala’s Dadar residence and waited for him there, Kale said.

When Gala came back home at around 1am, Keshav confronted him. Gala told him he could get admitted to a city hospital and resume work post recovery. “An irate Keshav was not placated and stabbed Gala in the chest with a kitchen knife,” said VB Patil, senior inspector, Bhoiwada police station.

Some passersby saw him and rushed him to KEM hospital, where he was treated. Based on Gala’s statement the police got Keshav's address and arrested him. Keshav, in his statement said he was annoyed that despite working at the hotel for a long time, he was not allowed to go to his native place.

Keshav was charged with attempt to murder and produced before a local court that remanded him in police custody till Friday.
