The woman’s ordeal did not end there. Policemen posted at the chowky on the beach refused to co-operate.
The incident occurred near a restaurant where the woman was jogging alone.
“I was listening to music through my earphones when I noticed the man, who was around 28 to 30 years of age, watching me. He suddenly came closer and slapped me really hard. I fell to the ground from the force of the slap and he escaped,” said the woman whose name has been withheld on request.
She then approached a bouncer of the restaurant to locate the attacker. The duo tried to look for the person, without success.
The woman then approached the policeman at the chowky who instead asked her to go to Santacruz police station.
Arun Chavan, senior inspector, Santacruz police station, said a case under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC had been registered and investigation was on.
