The incident took place around 5.30pm in Gaondevi slum at Gilbert Hill, Andheri (W). Police have arrested Arun Makrani, 23, who is unemployed and resides in the same area as the deceased Mehboob Shaikh, 22.

Shaikh was playing carom with two others near his residence when he got into an argument over an issue in the game with Makrani. The verbal feud turned into a scuffle and Makrani repeatedly hit Shaikh on his head with an iron stool causing him grievous injuries.

The complainant, Kushal Makwana, who was present at that time, said he tried to stop Makrani. “Makrani was so furious that he assaulted Makwana too. Makrani and Shaikh did not get along well,” said inspector Bhimrao Indulkar.
