They are true achievers in their respective fields.

But not many know that cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and music maestro AR Rahman are friends too.

"I am a big admirer of Sachin and his personality. He is a source of inspiration for the country and just looking at his photographs gives a lot of positive vibes," says Rahman.

The multiple Oscar-winning composer reveals that they "met a couple of years back and became friends".

He adds, "Sometimes we exchange SMSes and emails too. It was sad to see his (Tendulkar’s) retirement speech, but I am sure he is going to do more things now with the power he has."

Since Tendulkar is also a big music buff, we couldn’t help but ask Rahman if there’s a possible partnership on the music front.

"Collaboration? I have not thought about it, but you never know (smiles). Whenever I am in Mumbai, I text him," reveals the musician.

Interestingly, last month (December, 2013), Tendulkar had stated on a TV show that "wherever I have toured, you (Rahman) have travelled with, your music has travelled with me."

He added, "Your music in different times, like when I was really happy or when I was feeling low, when there was nothing much happening in life, it was my companion, so in a way you have travelled with me. It has entertained not just me, but all of us."

In the past, Rahman has also credited Sachin for being the reason that made him watch cricket.
