Kailash Kher is set to release a single on July 7. Titled ‘Bhole chale Bhole chale bamm bamm’, it is based on Lord Shiva.

His band, Kailasa, released an album, Ishq Anokha, earlier this year. Now, Kailash Kher is set to release a single tomorrow (July 7). Titled Bhole Chale Bhole Chale Bamm Bamm, it is based on Lord Shiva. “The track is a gift to my fans on my birthday. The last time we released a single was in 2010. Called Ambar Tak Yahi Naad Goonjega, it was dedicated to Anna Hazare,” says the singer.

So, how did the idea for this spiritual single come about? The singer says his song, ‘Babam bam’, from the 2007 album Jhoomo Re was a rage among the youth. “Also, when I sang the Shiva tandava stotram in Bahubali (2015), it gained popularity among young music lovers. Last week, a fan requested me to release a single as a return gift on my birthday (laughs). That’s how I thought of this single,” says Kailash, adding, “We completed the song last night. It has a psychedelic sound. I am happy with how the song has turned out.”

Kailash and his band are also working on another spiritual album on Lord Shiva. “It’s called Baba Kedarnath. It comprises eight songs. We’ve tried to redefine devotional music with this album. The first track, Jai Jai Kedara, will feature 15 celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shankar Mahadevan, Devdutt Patnaik, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Prasoon Joshi, Suresh Wadkar, Anoop Jalota, Arijit Singh, Hema Malini and Shreya Ghoshal, among others. Mr Bachchan has sung a shlok in it,” says Kailash, adding that the album will release in a couple of months.

Explaining why devotional music interests him, Kailash says, “Spiritual music usually interests people in the older age group. But when Kailasa emerged, we gave spiritual songs a contemporary twist so that even young music lovers could enjoy it.”
