While Oprah jetted out of Mumbai to shoot her show in Agra, American rapper Kanye West arrived in the city on Wednesday morning. Sources said the 34-year-old checked in to The Taj Mahal Palace at 4.30pm.

Sources said the 34-year-old, known for hits like Heartless, Good Life and Stronger, checked in to The Taj Mahal Palace at 4.30pm. “He was dressed casually in a hooded jacket, and was accompanied by two bodyguards,” says an eyewitness.

The singer and record producer is in Mumbai in connection with his women’s fashion label that he premiered at the Paris Fashion Week in October 2011. In the hotel, the rapper has been booked at the Rajput suite, where Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and music legend John Lennon and wife Yoko Ono had earlier stayed. The suite has a Sheesh-Mahal study, gold engraved sinks and a swing that is 108 years old. “Kanye and his team have booked eight rooms and the booking is till Saturday,” says a source.

Kanye leads the Grammy nominations list with seven nominations this year.
