The exhibition opens at the Movieum at County Hall on the South Bank on March 12.

It will mark the 40th anniversary since the Beatles played their last live performance, on the rooftop of the Apple Building on Savile Row.

The collection to be exhibited spans from 1963 to 1970, say reports,

It is said to include photographs taken during the filming of Help and A Hard Day's Night, together with a series of pictures by the photographer Robert Whitaker, who accompanied the band on their 1966 tour of Japan.

A snap clicked in 1967 shows John Lennon sauntering past a line of bikini-clad extras while directing a scene for the Beatles' film, The Magical Mystery Tour.

The exhibition will also include a selection of Beatles memorabilia, including one of John Lennon's Rickenbacker guitars.

"The images in this exhibition showcase the Fab Four at their dizzying best, capturing a selection of their oddest, funniest and loudest moments," the Telegraph quoted Louise Garczewska, the director of the Getty Images Gallery, as saying.
