NEW DELHI: Congress MP Viplove Thakur on Tuesday sought a ban on advertisements for fairness creams, arguing such publicity was demeaning for women. Raising the issue in Rajya Sabha, she said the advertisements for such products promised to make women fair but the tall claims are never tested. “Advertisements of products like Fair & Lovely and Ponds face creams are demeaning for women,” she said during Zero Hour. Thakur demanded a ban on such advertisements, stressing that women were developing a complex.
