NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday urged PM Narendra Modi to reach out to the people of her state by starting a productive dialogue process.

During her 30-minute meeting with the PM, she also stressed on the need to de-escalate tension along the borders and sought revival of the peace and reconciliation process in the region.

This was the second meeting between Mehbooba and the PM since the outbreak of unrest in Kashmir. Her earlier meeting with Modi on August 27 had paved the way for an all-party delegation visit to Kashmir on September 4.

“Kashmiris have gone through enormous agony and pain. The time has come to reach out to them and apply a balm to their wounds,” Mehbooba told the Prime Minister.
