“Work hard for barely five months to again form a five-year government,” Akhilesh said, addressing the youth cadre of the party.

Taking a potshot at the other political yatras in the state, Akhilesh said: “It’s anybody’s guess how many days these yatras would last.” The yatra is an initiative of the National Yuvjan Sabha (a youth frontal wing of SP). It will cover all 403 assembly constituencies spread over 75 districts in the state. The yatra will have six phases spanning 10 days each. There will be a five-day break between two phases.

Akhilesh himself will travel across the state in the Vikas Rath Yatra after Navratri (October).

“One more yatra will set off in which I will directly seek votes from the people,” he said.

Akhilesh asked party volunteers to focus their campaign on the development work that the state government did. “No other government in Uttar Pradesh or anywhere in the country did as much development and welfare work as ours. Talk about those works,” he emphasised.

Tell them about the metro rail project, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Samajwadi Pension, laptop distribution, cycle tracks, four-lane roads, he said.
