Ghaziabad: Two men attacked by barbers for objecting to cut on groom’s face before wedding

The two were friends of the groom and were allegedly attacked by four barbers

Two friends of a bridegroom were allegedly attacked by barbers on Friday afternoon after they objected to their friend getting a cut on his face during a shave before his wedding that night. The three men had gone to a unisex saloon in Shalimar Garden in Sahibabad on Friday afternoon, but had to flee after the barbers allegedly injured them with sharp-edged objects.

Kamal Kumar, the bridegroom, had gone to the saloon around 2pm on Friday for a shave and a hair cut, along with his two friends, Nitish Sharma and Amit Verma. As Kamal was getting a shave, he got a cut on his face.

“When I told the barber that it was Kamal’s wedding that night and he will not look good due to the cut, the barber pushed me. When I objected, he injured me on the head with scissors and I started bleeding. In between all this, Kamal escaped fearing a brawl,” Sharma said.

“After Kamal ran away, Amit, who was standing outside, came in and objected to what the barber had done to me. There were four of them in the saloon and they all hit him multiple times with a sharp-edged object. We both ran to save our lives,” he added.

Sharma later went to nearby police post and forwarded a written complaint into the matter.

However, he said the policemen called the barbers to the police post, but let them off.

“We will contact the victims and inquire about the incident. Proper action will be taken against the accused persons,” said Akash Tomar, superintendent of police (city).
