Police and the state mining department have detected illegal sand mining on two plots along the Yamuna river in Greater Noida.

DM BN Singh told PTI that illegal mining was detected on two plots in Sikandarpur and Murshadpur along Yamuna river and around 18,126 cubic metres of sand was recovered from the sites.

An FIR has been lodged and notices worth Rs 70 lakh have been issued to the plot owners, he said.

Singh said that SDM Sadar Anjani Kumar led the team comprising police officials and the mining staff.
