Man attempts suicide at Shopprix Mall

A 22-year-old man is alleged to have jumped from the third floor of a shopping mall in Sector 5, Vaishali. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital by onlookers and is in a critical condition.

The police said that the girl the man was in love with died, after which he decided to commit suicide.

The incident took place around 9pm on Wednesday at Shopprix Mall in Vaishali. A suicide note was recovered from the man’s possession, in which he apologised to his family for bringing shame to them and attempting suicide.

“The man destroyed the SIM card of his phone by biting it off before jumping. He also has blade marks on his left wrist. Investigation revealed that the girl he was in love with died and he decided to end his life as well,” Anil Kumar Yadav, circle officer, Indirapuram, said.

An excerpt from the suicide note read, “Mother and father, I am sorry for ending my life and bringing shame to the family. I had promised that girl that we will live together and die together... Now that she is gone I have to end my life as well…”

He also thanked the people who had taken the girl to a hospital after she had jumped from an unspecified mall.

The police are yet to identify the man.
