Man held for attempting to rape minor girl in Salarpur, Noida

The police said that the man had entered the girl’s residence and tried to force himself on her when she raised the alarm and alerted neighbours. Soon, a large group of people gathered at her residence and trashed the man, the police said.

A 32-year-old man was roughed up by locals and handed over to the police after he allegedly attempted to rape a 10-year-old girl in Salarpur area on Tuesday evening.

According to the police, the man tried to rape the minor girl when she was alone in her residence on Tuesday.

The police said that the man had entered the girl’s residence and tried to force himself on her when she raised the alarm and alerted neighbours. Soon, a large group of people gathered at her residence and trashed the man, the police said.

“The accused also lived the neighbourhood and frequently visited the victim’s house. On Tuesday, when her parents were out at work, the man went to the girl’s residence with some chocolates and tried to make sexual advances on her,” Ajay Kumar Singh, the station house officer of Sector 39 police station, said.

The police said that the girl studies in class 5 and usually stayed at home with her younger brother after returning from school. Her parents stay out on their respective jobs and the accused knew about this, the police said.

“The victim started shouting as soon as the man started forcing himself on her. Her shouts alerted her neighbours. They came to her rescue and held the man from fleeing the spot. Soon, many people gathered at the residence and thrashed the man before handing him over to the police,” Singh said.

A case under sections of attempt to rape a minor and criminal intimidation of the IPC and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered against the accused.
