Noida: Special cell cop kills self, wife attempts suicide

His wife also attempted suicide by jumping off from their flat situated on fourth floor of the building after his death.
According to police, the deceased, Amit Kumar, Singh was posted as Assistant Commissioner of Police in southwest district. At 9.30 pm, he shot himself with his service pistol at his fourth floor apartment in Lotus Boulevard located in Noida’s Sector 100 following which his wife Sarita Singh also jumped from the flat. She was rushed to nearby Yatharth hospital where her condition is said to be critical.
“Security guard informed that deceased’s wife came seeking help from him and informed that her husband has shot himself. After he reached the flat, all of a sudden she also jumped from the flat. The guard then informed the police about the incident,” said Vijay Dhull, ASP of Noida police.
Amit Kumar Singh is a DANIPS officer of 2010 batch and by his wife and a two-year-old child. He was a native of Bihar. In 2014, the officer was involved in a road rage incident in South Delhi where he was assaulted by a commuter.
